//about me

Hi, I'm a Sam

I’m a creative from Hastings, UK. For the past 6 years, I’ve been working in marketing representing an inspiring mixed cliental and various projects, often spending most of my time behind a desk. However, in the last few years I’ve been laying down the foundations to turn my skills as an all-round artist into my full-time career… and now, I’m proud to say I’ve left the office life behind me, to take the plunge into the world of freelancing!

Where it started

From a very young age, I have always enjoyed being creative and continue to love expressing myself visually through my work as an artist, always striving to add as much hidden meaning and depth to my projects as possible. I also love problem-solving and really enjoy experimenting with and finding creative solutions to any challenge or hurdle, especially when it comes to design, animation or illustration. Who knows, maybe my love for a good adventure comes from endless hours spent exploring the mythos of Zelda or striving to ‘Catch em All!’ – either way, I have always loved drawing inspiration from other creative minds and franchises, to better inform my own work and understanding of how to add effortless depth to my art.

What excites me

In my free time, my love for exploring different worlds knows no bounds, both creatively and literally. I have always loved travelling, from the towering mountains of New Zealand where I used to live, to the sandy beaches of Hawaii. Living by the sea also has it perks, giving me the perfect backdrop for my creativity and the ideal getaway whenever I fancy a swim, a BBQ, or a long walk with my dog.

How I keep busy

My friends often describe me as a very busy person… and they’re not wrong! When I’m not working on client commissions or taking a much-needed breather, I’m exploring new ideas for board games, RPGs and more – usually finishing off my plans for the day with prep for a delicious spicy meal, inspired by my time spent in Mexico.

Vibes

But as much as I aim to be care-free and positive in my personal life, when it comes to my work and art, I can be a harsh-critic. In my opinion, any good piece of art should aim to visually astound audiences at first glance, with visible skill and time-taken to create it. For this reason, I hold myself to exceptionally high standards whether I’m creating art for myself or others… and I also have no qualms about expressing my opinion on AI ‘art’.
